How many answers does it take to change the question?
During a man's routine visit with his senile mother, he is faced with the stark resonance of her simple, repetitive questions: "How's your wife? How are the kids?" Divorced, childless, and staring into the maelstrom of mid-life crisis, the man cannot bear to face his failings. But, as with all epiphanous moments in life, his comes unexpectedly. Repetition (with Variation) vividly portrays the dynamic of exile and ephemeral kingdom in our lives.
